VIRANIX AQUASHIELD UV-1K – Polyurethane Liquid Waterproofing

A single-component, UV-resistant, polyurethane-based liquid waterproofing material.

Once cured, AQUASHIELD UV-1K forms a continuous, flexible waterproofing membrane that follows structural movement and cracks. Single-component — can be applied directly without mixing. Resistant to UV radiation, it doesn't yellow or age, making it a long-lasting solution both outdoors and indoors. It is acid-resistant, has a sound-damping effect, and can be used under underfloor heating and on sandwich panel surfaces.

Material requirement – guideline consumption

• Indoor wet room (bathroom, shower, kitchen)
  2 coats · 1.50 kg/m² · one 5 kg bucket covers approx. 3.3 m²
• Balcony, terrace, loggia
  2–3 coats · 1.75 kg/m² · one 5 kg bucket covers approx. 2.8 m²
• Flat roof, heavy-duty use, pools
  3 coats · 2.00 kg/m² · one 5 kg bucket covers approx. 2.5 m²

*These figures apply to flat surfaces. Consumption may increase on absorbent or uneven substrates. We recommend planning with a +10% buffer.

Application Guide

1. Surface preparation (mandatory):
The substrate must be clean, dry, free of grease and oil, with any necessary repairs completed beforehand. Loose, flaking material must be removed.

2. Choosing and applying the primer:
The type of primer is determined by the moisture condition of the substrate:

• Dry substrate (normal concrete, plaster): AQUASHIELD PRIMER – single-component polyurethane primer
• Slightly damp substrate: EPOXY PRIMER W moisture-tolerant epoxy primer

Once the primer is fully dry, application of the waterproofing can begin.

3. Embedding the corner tape (recommended):
At wall-floor junctions, corners, and over cracks, SEALBAND FLEX tape should be embedded into the first fresh coat so the membrane doesn't crack at the most critical points.

4. Application:
The material must be thoroughly mixed before application. It can be applied with a roller, brush, squeegee, or spray. At least 2 coats must be applied. The surface of the first coat dries in approx. 4 hours (at 20°C) — after which the next coat can be applied. Coats should be applied in alternating (crosswise) directions.

5. Post-treatment and curing:
Full curing occurs within 24 hours (at 20°C). Full chemical resistance is reached after 7 days.

• Step 1 – Primer: AQUASHIELD PRIMER – the basic requirement for adhesion on dry substrates
• Step 2 – Corner reinforcement: SEALBAND FLEX tape – at wall-floor junctions and over cracks
• Step 3 – Waterproofing: AQUASHIELD UV-1K – min. 2 coats, 1.50–2.00 kg/m²
• Step 4 – Mesh reinforcement (optional): ARMURNET 10 – for large surfaces requiring extra mechanical protection

NOTE: AQUASHIELD UV-1K is a single-component polyurethane that cures using moisture in the air. Once opened, the contents of the bucket must be used as soon as possible (open time: 30–45 minutes). Cannot be applied below +5°C or in rainy conditions. After application, protect the surface from precipitation and frost for 24 hours. Full chemical resistance is only reached after 7 days.

Safety warning: Before curing, the material is irritating to skin and eyes. Wear protective gloves, eye protection, and a mask during application. In case of contact with skin or eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and soap. Call a doctor if swallowed. Do not bring food or drink into the work area. Keep out of reach of children.
