What is VIRANIX Stone Carpet?

VIRANIX stone carpet is a seamless flooring made from a combination of natural stone aggregate and flexible binder. Thanks to this design, the surface isn't rigid — it tolerates minor substrate movement better than conventional tile flooring. With the proper topcoat, it's easy to clean, so it can be used indoors in kitchens, bathrooms, and hallways. For decorative purposes, it can also be applied to walls, creating a uniform, natural-looking surface on both floors and vertical surfaces. The intended use determines the required layer structure and thickness.

Pre-mixed material. Predictable quality. Controlled installation.

Single-Component Stone Carpet System

Pre-Mixed Stone Carpet Material

VIRANIX stone carpet flooring is supplied as a single-component material: the natural stone aggregate and the binder are pre-mixed at the factory in the bucket.

Before use, there's no need to dose separate components or set mixing ratios.

This reduces the risk of installation errors and ensures consistent quality on every surface.

Natural Stone, Water-Based Binder

The system is built on a combination of selected, natural stone aggregate and high-quality binder.

The material structure is flexible, able to follow minor substrate movement while forming a stable, uniform flooring.

It provides a decorative look while working with a technically controlled, predictable layer structure.

Designed for Weather-Resistant Surfaces

With the proper layer structure and topcoat, VIRANIX stone carpet resists UV radiation, rain, and temperature fluctuations.

This allows it to be used both indoors and outdoors, whether on a terrace, stairs, walkway, or driveway.

The flooring's properties depend on the chosen grain size, layer thickness, and topcoat type.

VIRANIX isn't a "simple flooring" — it's a system-level solution, where preparation, priming, the stone carpet, and the topcoat together determine the final result.

This ensures the surface stays not just attractive, but predictable and sustainable over the long term.

Medium Grain

VIRANIX Stone Carpet

The 2–4 mm grain size VIRANIX stone carpet is the most widely applicable solution: it gives a natural stone effect with a uniform look, which is why it's often chosen for both outdoor and indoor use.

With the proper layer structure, it's ideal for terraces, walkways, garden paths, stairs, balconies, as well as hallways, corridors, and kitchens indoors.

For vehicle use (driveways, garage entrances), the medium grain version is typically recommended in the system, but only if the flooring is built to a minimum 8 mm thickness and the surface is sealed with a mandatory 2K topcoat.

Fine Grain

Stone Carpet Flooring

The 1–2 mm grain size VIRANIX stone carpet is recommended primarily for decorative and lightly used surfaces. It gives a fine, homogeneous look, making it ideal for walls, baseboards, decorative interior surfaces, as well as lower-traffic indoor floor surfaces.

For decorative use, at a 2–3 mm layer thickness, one 25 kg bucket can cover up to ~4 m², depending on substrate unevenness and installation method.

⚠️ Not suitable for vehicle loads.

1. Substrate Preparation

(pH ≤10, moisture ≤9%)

A properly prepared substrate is the foundation of successful installation. The surface must be solid, clean, and free of dust and grease. One of the most important technical requirements is that the substrate's moisture content must not exceed 9%, since excessive moisture hinders the resin's adhesion.

Equally important is the pH value, which must not exceed 10 — this can be a particular issue with fresh concrete, so concrete flooring must be left to cure for at least 28 days before applying stone carpet to it. If the surface is too smooth, it's a good idea to roughen it up (e.g. by sanding) so the resin can adhere properly.

2. Priming

For floor coverings, applying a special resin-based primer layer is strongly recommended. This helps seal the pores, reduces the substrate's absorbency, and strengthens the flooring's adhesion.

For wall coverings, priming is always necessary, and it can improve durability.

For decorative installations, the primer can also help prevent the applied resin from soaking into the wall, resulting in a more attractive, even surface with less material used.

In high-humidity rooms (e.g. bathrooms, kitchens), priming can also contribute to moisture protection and the flooring's long-term stability.

3. Applying the Material

The single-component VIRANIX stone carpet material must be applied to the surface with simple hand tools
(such as a trowel or float).

It's important to apply only one layer. This ensures an attractive appearance and even drying.

A layer that's too thick can stretch as it dries, causing cracks or even delamination. The applied flooring must be left to dry completely, which takes 24–48 hours at +20°C depending on conditions, and only after that can the surface be used to its full extent

4. Topcoat

VIRANIX PRIMECOAT 1K – simple surface protection

VIRANIX PRIMECOAT 1K topcoat is a single-component, ready-to-use coating that requires no mixing.

Its job is to unify the look of the stone carpet surface, improve its cleanability, and provide basic surface protection.

The 1K topcoat is not waterproof, and is not suitable for sustained standing water or heavy mechanical loads. It's used primarily on indoor or covered outdoor surfaces where there's no standing water.

VIRANIX PRIMECOAT 2K – full sealing and enhanced protection

The 2K topcoat is a two-component system that requires mixing at a 20:1 ratio (A:B).

Its job is to seal the stone carpet's pores, increase water resistance, and improve mechanical and chemical resistance.

The 2K topcoat is required for sustained water exposure, outdoor use, and vehicle loads. When applied properly, it significantly increases the flooring's service life and resistance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is VIRANIX stone carpet, and what is it made of?

VIRANIX stone carpet is a single-component, pre-mixed flooring system made of natural, selected stone aggregate and a special, flexible, custom-developed binder. The system can be used directly, without mixing, allowing for fast, clean, and reliable installation both outdoors and indoors.

What surfaces can VIRANIX stone carpet be applied to?

With proper preparation and layer structure, VIRANIX stone carpet can be applied to outdoor and indoor surfaces, for example:

  • terraces, stairs, walkways,
  • driveways,
  • interior walls, hallways, kitchens, bathrooms.

⚠️ Specific suitability is never general — it always depends on the layer structure, thickness, and topcoat used.

Is it suitable for vehicle loads?

Yes, with the proper layer structure, VIRANIX stone carpet is suitable for passenger vehicle loads.

Conditions:

  • minimum 6-8 mm layer thickness,
  • proper priming,
  • applying VIRANIX PRIMECOAT 2K topcoat.

⚠️ Without the above conditions, the product cannot be considered suitable for vehicle loads.

What thickness is needed for different uses?

General guidance (not a binding recommendation):

  • Interior wall: approx. 2–3 mm
  • Terrace, stairs, pedestrian traffic: approx. 4–6 mm
  • Vehicle loads: minimum 6-8 mm + 2K topcoat

The exact thickness is determined by the substrate and the load.
